How They Like to Play

  • The counterpuncher, sometimes disrespectfully called a pusher, is all about consistent defense

  • They know the percentage shots and always hit them

  • They know that 2/3 of points won in tennis are from errors, so they will never make one

  • They will never go for too much on shot

  • They will win most of their points because you will eventually make the error

  • They will mentally wear you down enticing you to go for too much to just end the point

  • They hit neutral balls, have good lobs, and superb placement

  • They are the hardest players to beat

How to Strategically Beat Them

  • Attack the net, they do not like to be rushed, they do not like to be pressured to go for too much

  • Wrong foot them by hitting behind them instead of always to the empty court

  • Take their lobs out of the air hitting approach the net

  • Keep the net by going for your overheads

  • Make them forwards and backwards with Drop Shots and Lobs

Mindset Required to Beat Them

  • Be patient and be prepared to hit a ton of balls

  • Do not get annoyed respect their style of play it is effective

  • Be determined to hit as many balls as necessary to compete

  • Be disciplined going for too much will lead to certain defeat

  • Stay positive and enjoy the battle no matter how long
